Another full day of planning… November 5, 2008

I spent much of the day today doing more research online for the wedding. To get my thoughts organized in at least one area, I made a complex spreadsheet of every venue including: location, dates available, rooms available, size, capacity, fees, approved caterers, and more. It makes me feel a little better to have it all in one place instead of going to vendor websites over and over.

We have 3 more appointments to see venues next Monday. (The Louisville Science Center, The Frazier International History Museum, and the Mellwood Center for the Arts) I am really hoping one of these places works and we can move on to the next phase of the process.

I’ve also been busy on online message boards making friends with other brides and getting advice on wedding stuff. I even found one girl in Louisville who is having pretty much the same wedding as we are, just next summer! Reading her blog has helped me a lot in figuring out things we’ve been questioning.

After talking to my mom and Ben’s mom, we’ve found out some more issues we need to pay careful attention to. Many of Ben’s relatives will be flying in so we need to find a places close to an airport where we’ll be able to pick people up and get them to our hotels easily. Also, the hotel needs to be close to the venue for both the ceremony and reception. We’ve decided that we want to really try to have both in the same place to keep it simple and run smoothly.

Also, one of my cousins is getting married the 3rd week of October and my family is concerned our original date Oct. 3rd would be too close to theirs. We have since decided to try for a January 2, 2010 wedding. Since our anniversary is Jan 1st, it is a Saturday after 2 holidays that most people would have off, this will make it easy for people to be able to get into Louisville and spend lots of time with us. Also, our friends who may not be able to take days off or who are teachers, will have these days off automatically. (and I love that its 01-02-2010, pretty cool, right?)

Up for this week, keep researching and staying organized, tour new locations, meet with local rabbis, and stay happy and excited to be getting MARRIED!

Right, Very Cool! You might want to look into Hebrew numerology and kabbalah after the rush is over, or as a diversion.

Are you planning on having a Protestant clergy member there?
